What's Included

Start the tour outside the front of the Magic Kingdom. This audio tour has been created so you can either listen to it while walking around Disney World or remotely from the comfort of your own home or hotel room, it’s completely as you wish!

Head into Main Street, USA, the glorious entrance into the Magic Kingdom and what a lot of people consider to be the opening credits for Disney World. Look around at the design of the buildings, many of which are based on Walt’s youth. He specifically drew influence from his hometown of Marceline in Missouri, but you can spot different stylistic influences from around the country, such as mid-western America and New England. Some also take inspiration from Lady and the Tramp.

Enter the Central Plaza and stand in the shadow of Cinderella’s Castle. Get a closer look at this famous statue of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. Here, we see this partnership immortalised with the Partners Statue. From a sketch on a train at one of the lowest points in Walt’s career, to being the icon of Disney, Mickey Mouse symbolises a unique feeling of hope - how believing in a bit of magic can get you through the toughest times.

Wander through the Castle and enter Fantasyland, the quintessential Disney experience that conjures feelings of enchantment. Harkening back to Mediaeval Europe and the age of kings, castles, magic and make-believe, it’s the epitome of what Walt dreamed for in family entertainment.

Take a closer look at some of the rides, like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. A lot of the character and gags from this ride were created by the film’s originally animator, Albert Hurter. Hurter brought a grotesqueness to animation, and that’s why Walt loved him. Because he was actually from Zurich in Switzerland, Hurter brought to Disney an authentic, European illustration style that would characterise the studio's earlier features.

Visit “it's a small world”, a boat journey past 300 Audio-Animatronics dolls in traditional costumes from cultures around the world singing. These audio-Animatronics are a creation of Walt Disney and his Imagineers that would come to define the technological advancement of the Magic Kingdom

Enter Liberty Square and be welcome to the birth of the United States of America! Every corner is designed to replicate the American East Coast during the 1700s, from its architecture to the character’s costumes. As you walk around, try and immerse yourself into the world that Walt created here! Smell that fresh fruit and veg at the Liberty Square market or listen for the traditional steam engines as the Liberty Belle Steamboat cruises past.

Swagger into an old Western in Frontierland and see if you can hear some rootin’ tootin’ banjo playing or some gunshots over at the firing range. Parts of Frontierland are based on the natural landscapes of Western America, like Tom Sawyer Island surrounded by the Rivers of America or the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad designed to look like an enormous plateau that are common in states like Utah, Arizona and New Mexico.

With the fairy tales of Europe and the birth of America behind us, it’s time to explore some of the most exciting parts of the rest of the world here in Adventureland, our fifth Magic Kingdom land! From the stunning architecture of Mexico and the Caribbean Islands to beautiful Polynesian culture and the fictional world Agrabah in the Middle East, Adventureland has something for everyone. Head into the square and visit the famous Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Hop on another famous ride, the Jungle Cruise, and cruise down several major rivers in Asia, Africa and South America. The design of the Jungle Cruise is incredibly diverse, being influenced by different cultures across the globe. Just north of the Jungle Cruise is Agrabah, the Aladdin section of Adventureland which was a key film in Disney’s famous Renaissance in the 1990s.

Cross back over the Plaza and hear about some of Disney’s environmental efforts and innovations that they are working on in the Magic Kingdom. Walt himself said that “conservation isn’t just the business of a few people. It’s a matter that concerns all of us”. He believed that construction of his theme park couldn’t be an invasion of natural swamp lands but an integration into something already existing.

Head into Tomorrowland as you walk towards the looming Astro Orbiter. Learn how this area is closely tied to America history throughout the second half of the 20th century and how it was moulded on what they thought the future would look like. Learn about Disney’s future as we walk up through Tomorrowland. With the Magic Kingdom maintaining its honour as one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.

Finish the tour at Storybook Circus and learn how nostalgia is truly Disney’s most powerful ingredient. That’s what really makes the Magic Kingdom such a magical place, not just because it inspires us about the future and teaches us about the world we live in today, but because it reconnects us with the past, with our childhoods.
